Duplicat's Diary

One down...

Ania left the boat today after nearly 4 months onboard. Quite how she managed to put up with me for that long, neither of us are sure! And vica versa of course ;). It has been good fun for the most part, with a few ups and downs - inevitable when you share such a small space for so long. Certainly there aren’t many people you don’t know well who you would chose to spend that long with!

In keeping with the view that this boat has everything, she asked for an iron for her jeans. I think we’ve used it once before - but it does still work. Here’s the proof...

We had a goodbye meal ashore at the Rhum-Ba yesterday lunchtime. Food was nice, and the deserts were huge which resulted in us laying around on the boat doing not very much yesterday afternoon. Here’s the crew looking very happy at the last meal...

Ania is off to do some work-away in Australia, then a course on leading meditation in India, followed by a course to become a yoga instructor in Thailand! She never stops! We wish her all the best and maybe she’ll come and see us in the UK, or onboard Duplicat again sometime.

So for now, we have a few days of waiting on weather. Not much wind, and a trough coming which probably means we’ll be sat here until Tuesday before we head to Vanuatu. Clearly we’d like to arrive on a weekday, but I’d prefer to sail rather than motor, so we’ll see! We will try and get some more diving in with Pirlouit before we head off - so this mornings task (after dropping Ania off to meet her taxi to the airport at 6:15am), was to renew the dive compressor filter. We need to refuel and shop too, so its going to get busy after the weekend!
